Pokemon Ultra Moon cia: Every generation of Pokemon has its own special version. With Red and Blue, it was Yellow; Ruby and Sapphire had Emerald and Sun, and Pokemon ultra Moon cia has the Ultra versions. As we are used to from the special releases, the Ultra version is a new story in the same universe as the basic game, with quite a few adjustments and even improvements compared to the first part. I started working with Pokémon Ultra Moon to see what exactly has changed.

Of course, the Pokemon ultra moon formula remains the same: you walk through a world with all kinds of monsters that you can catch, train and care for. In Pokémon Moon I was introduced to the new generation and a completely new environment for the first time. An environment that introduced the region-exclusive Pokemon. That is the first big change to the game. There was always a certain type of Pokemon present in Alola. This has completely turned upside down with Ultra Moon.

In the first area, I already encountered an Inkai and am now the proud owner of an Ampharos. Pokémon that you couldn’t find in Moon without outside help.
In that respect, Pokemon Ultra Moon cia is a wonderful refreshment. The different Pokémon that you encounter will cause your hands to itch and the Pokéballs will continue to fly through the air. This is to ensure that you know how to complete the Pokédex. Your Pokédex has also received an update with Ultra Moon. There is still a Rotom in it who occasionally makes great comments, but this time he is also doing very useful things. This makes it possible to do a RotoLoto. When the Dex’s eyes are yellow, click on it and the Pokédex will give you items that you can use in battles. Think of a heal, XP or stat boost. A nice extra, but this does not make the game more challenging.
Because that is a point that I missed at Moon. The route is still indicated by flags on your mini-map. This means that you do not have to look for the next location and it still feels as if you are being taken by your hand to ensure that you do not get stuck in a certain area for too long. As far as I’m concerned, the assignments in the conversations with NPCs provide sufficient information about the next step and a flag on your mini-map is an unnecessary luxury.
The form of the challenge comes in the form of the Trials in Ultra Moon. In Moon, I was introduced to this new way of progress for the first time. In that part, I whistled through all the different ‘challenges’, but that is slightly different from Ultra Moon. The Totem Pokemon you are fighting against has new tactics that they are only too happy to apply. In this way, you are often in a two-to-one situation in a fight. This causes players to think a bit more about the tactics during these battles. I came across a Lurantis who liked to use Solar Blade and a Kecleon who only casts Sunny Day. This not only makes your own Fire moves a lot stronger, but the Solar Blade of that twisted Lurantis also does not need an extra turn to charge.
Trials are still a fun way to progress in the game. Yet it is also a pity that you can no longer get started in the famous Pokémon Gyms. In that area, there was more to be gained from the Trials. Certainly, because they hardly deviate from the previous part besides the fighting. For example, at the aforementioned Lurantis, you have to look for dishes for a special meal and at Mimikyu it is again taking pictures of moving equipment and hugs. A missed opportunity. As far as I’m concerned, this could have been a bit more creative.
Creativity is in the story. Of course, we already knew the Ultra Beasts and the areas where they came from, but that is done again with Pokemon Ultra Moon. With new variations of monsters that we already know, the game still provides nice surprises. In addition, we can also battle with literally every bad guy we know from the Pokemon series. A nice addition that will mainly fan fans.
Conclusion:
Pokemon Ultra Moon cia is a great addition to the series. The extras give players enough reason to return to Alola. On the other hand, there was more to be gained from the game and especially if you have been in the previous part for many hours, Ultra Moon can be a bit disappointing. Nevertheless, you will again experience hours of collecting fun with Pokemon Ultra Moon.
